March 30 - April 1
Quais du Polar
Lyon, France

Saturday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m.
Panel: Goodbye, Cruel World? Not the World of Crime Fiction . . . Born around the same time as the world's megacities, the noir novel is essentially an urban genre. That said, this literary genre, heir to the Western, is also regularly set in small towns . . . or the wide-open spaces. A discussion among authors who mix the genre with nature writing and road movies, and create new dynamics between characters and countryside.
Panelists: Belinda Bauer (Great Britain), C.J. Box (U.S.), Craig Johnson (U.S.) and John Connolly (Ireland). Moderated by Hubert Prolongeau

Saturday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m.
Panel: The Schengen Convention and the American Cousin: Viewpoints
For many years, America was Utopia, home of "the dream factory" and "the American dream." The modern detective novel was born in the United States. Thus, as with films, rap, or basketball, the detective novel intrinsically requires that we look across the Atlantic. Some European authors write only about the United States, while some American authors often follow the opposite path. A discussion of these different points of view.
Panelists: Maud Tabachnik (France), Jonathan Rabb (U.S.), John Connolly (Ireland), Maxime Chattam (France), Lee Child (U.S.). Moderated by Vincent Raymond.
